![]() I am a lifelong learner, writer, and teacher about living a spiritual life in a practical world. Living spiritually requires becoming attuned to the indwelling divine spirit and consecrated to follow his direction. It extends to the business world where living a principled life—one of uncompromising personal morals and business ethics—acquires the authority of experience.
A practical rule for spiritual living is to see everything from the highest (cosmic) perspective—or in religious terms, how God sees it. In making moral and ethical decisions I use three criteria:
MY HISTORY I know now that the purpose for my life is to find God, share my inner life in every detail, and walk together with him through this life and on into eternity. But how miserable I was before I knew he existed. As a young person, I looked around at the world and its problems and despaired to find meaning for my life. The goal of material affluence was promoted by my mother and culture while my soul starved. There were three great events that marked my spiritual journey from darkness to light, from barrenness to fulfillment. In my desperate quest to find reality, a fascinating collection of events led me to a charismatic man who introduced me to the Bible. He made God come alive. I discovered that he is my Father and I am his child; he loves, watches over, and guides my steps. For 25 years I remained in this Christian fellowship and grew as much as I could, but there was a ceiling I could not climb beyond in my relationship with my Father. It was then that the second event of destiny occurred: the introduction of the Urantia Book. I had never encountered a compilation of writings that so illuminated my understanding. The Urantia Book brought everything together. Mysteries were made plain. I was delighted with the enlightenment but more important was the growth I felt in my soul and expressed in my character. I was becoming a more loving and unified person, thereby able to truly love others and do good. What a thrill! I had struggled to take my relationship with God my Father to the next level of hearing his voice. I wanted to converse with him; after all he is also my friend. I learned to quiet my mind, enter into stillness and commune (my definition of meditation) with my spirit Parents. My Life Now: After many years in the real estate and software industries, I am now able to devote my time to writing, teaching, study, and going about doing good—service. |
